Hey, I was in my kid's skateboard shop and I asked the fellow behind the desk what disk he was playing. No disk; it was a Sirius station. I couldn't believe I was hearing an outrageous version of Fleetwood Mac's Roadrunner by probably Legion of Mary or early JGB. Anyone know from where that tune comes? Anyone know the station?
Peace

As far as I know the Grateful Dead performed the song twice on 3-21-86 and 3-31-86

While it is true that this is an old blues tune by Junior Walker, most people recognise it from the pre- Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac album "Penguin"

3/21/ and 31/86 is "Roadrunner"..an old Junior Walker and the All Stars tune. In the top 5 of my favorite R and B tunes of all time.

The new napster com thing apparently will let you sample-stream whole tracks, that may be a good place to check if you are signed up. It's not appropriate to upload commercial tracks to the audio collections here unless you are like, the artist or label themselves.

It's on the 9/1/74 release from the Pure Jerry series. They added Ron Tutt on drums a couple months later, becoming Legion of Mary, but otherwise the personnel are the same, so good call on your guess.

You can buy it at
http://www.jerrygarciastore.com/

It's a good set, too.

I hadn't heard the Fleetwood Mac version and was a fan of the old
FM..Roadrunner was and still is one of my favorite R and B tunes
way back when..as a kid I used to see a local (SF Bay Area) club
band quite a bit and they frequently did that tune..for some reason
had never heard the Dead's versions..thanks for posting them
